Lot of people criticizing about Slum Dog Millionaire as a worst movie they have seen because it has shown the negative side of India. Is that true? It is really doubtful, the people who criticizing are definitely much more intellectual than me but I have some view on it which I should express in my blog.
First of all these days people are little bit confusing with Documentary and Feature Film, these two are different, Documentary means that there should be fact and fig in the script, means everything must be authentic and have proof. Where as in feature film it is a story which is imagination of writer, may be inspired by some happening which happen before and definitely he can add some flavor to it make interesting. If the film is based on true story it is clearly written on the casting of the film that it is based on true story.
So here the film didn’t say anywhere that it is the present image of India or such thing, it is a story of a slum and slum boy which can be exist anywhere in the world, only the backdrop is India. Yes you can raise a question why India, this is very subjective and can be asked in any film or any subject happen in the world.
Why you are wearing red shirt why not blue, red means danger definitely you have intention do some thing dangerous, you always listening hindi film song ghazal , never listening Indian classical music means you are ignoring the Indian culture insulting it, love to listen kishore kumar, means you want to say rafi couldn’t sing, etc. Its all depend on the angle of vision.
One thing is very surprising for me why such intellectual people could not see the positive point of this film, the phrase we heard from very child hood in hindi is “Kichar mein bhi kamal khilte hain” The incident which happen in Jamal Mallik’s life could lead him to criminal life but he never give up and try to live a honest life.
The second thing is about love, Jamal Mallik knows that his love is ruin, and she is kept wife of a Don but still jamal was desperate to get his love back. Definitely this shows the positive thing of the character of Jamal Mallik.
Have you seen NETA’s string operation? After that neta become so furious and try to pretend and hide his fault. Such situation happens to us trying to pretend and hide our fault. And if really film shows our country’s negative thing our situation is like that NETA.
But I must tell one thing that this is my view may be it is wrong, I have seen only once I like the story line which is different, being a photographer I like the cinematography, It is brilliant, Though it gets prize for sound engineering and I am honest to say that I am not that much matured to understand the good and bad of this side, Songs are good but Rehman give lot of better songs from this number, but that is also very subjective when I am judging the songs may be that is my angle of vision but many of us hardly listen or understand the background music the sound effect.
One dialogue or situation is can be omit that is where the boy saying look this the real India and the foreigner saying now I am showing the real America, but this type of dialogue we invariably use in our own hindi movie.
The only problem of this film the film is made by a foreigner.
